Think About Where To Put Your Parrot’s Cage!

I guess if you have bought a parrot you will at least put the bird somewhere where you can see him. After all there is not much point spending all that money on a fairly exotic pet and then hiding the creature away BUT where are you going to put

You need to think it through quite carefully where you want to put the cage or, given the size of the cage, it might be more a case of “where can I put it”, rather than “where do I want to put it?”?

The following tips that will give you some idea of how to choose the most suitable place in your home to put your parrot’s cage.

If the cage is reasonably large, it is more likely to be a decision based on where the cage will fit”? You need to go through your home and look at possible places that your bird cage would fit but you need to bear in mind the following before finally deciding where to put it.

Parrots, as well as being very social birds are also flock creatures and until you get your bird to recognize you as the flock leader your bird will believe he is the flock leader and you and your family the flock. And flock creatures like to be with other flock creatures so your parrot needs to be in the “thick” of things. He needs to be where the action is, where family members congregate and where there is always something going on. Putting your parrot in the spare room or out of the way somewhere would not be good for your bird.

The cage needs to be out of the way of any drafts but at the same time it needs to be where there is sufficient ventilation.

The kitchen is also not a good place for your parrot. Too many dangerous items and the chance of too many things going wrong.
Being social creatures parrots want and need interaction with you on a regular basis to thrive. No interaction leads to and then all sorts of problems begin to surface such as feather plucking, screaming and biting. Just a little bit of care about where to place the cage can prevent these kinds of problems.
